Spanky Van Dykes Associated Festival : Field Day 2012 – First Announcements

The Spanky Van Dykes associated festival Field Day has just announced it’s first round of acts for official line-up to the 2012 event, which takes place on June 2nd in London’s Victoria Park. Scottish band and firm favourites of ours Franz Ferdinand have been announced as the headliners. They’ll be joined by the likes of SBTRKT, Metronomy, Beirut, Maya Jane Coles, Peaking Lights (who made possibly the album of the year), Andrew Bird, Gold Panda and a whole host of other exciting acts that are yet to be announced! Take Over Presents Percydread – December 2nd
Percydread has put Nottingham on the musical map with an international career spanning 30 years. Fired up after a smash performance at Wembley stadium, he takes to the stage to showcase hits including his new single ‘Dash De Gun’ courtesy of SouLove Records. His work with the Natural Ites earned him global acclaim and as a solo artist Percydread continues to teach Jah righteous message around the world.

Jitterbug – November 15th
Following a hugely successful start, The Jitterbug returns for its second instalment at Spanky Van Dykes. Staying true to our word, we yet again bring you the very best in national and international acts from the world of Swing. From deepest, darkest Surrey we present to you Mr. B The Gentleman Rhymer and his banjolele on his Nottingham debut. Italy’s The Swingrowers expertly fuse the sounds of Electro swing with live vocals from acclaimed singer, Loredana Grimaudo. We will be providing a FREE dance class at the beginning of the evening followed by classic Swing music for social dancing.

Preston Is My Paris
Preston Is My Paris is a zine founded by Adam Murray and Robert Parkinson in 2009. Beyond it’s great title, each issue features photography taken around Preston and clearly expresses it’s creators love of the city. The project has also developed into a independent photographic publishing house. The zine is distributed for free in Preston, so pick up a copy if you ever venture that way, or of course you can check out their website below to see what they’re up to.
