Hello Thor presents Cantaloupe, Forever Sound, Azores and Nordenfelt – live on June 1st

 
Cantaloupe are a synth-guitar/bass-drums trio from Nottingham, UK. Drawing influences from afro-pop to krautrock to the avant garde, Cantaloupe make lush and infectious instrumental pop music.
 
Azores occupy a unique space somewhere between afrobeat, psyche rock and post-punk, with influences ranging from the No Wave movement pioneered in New York during the 1980s by bands such as Liquid Liquid, James Chance and The Dance, to 1990s US bands Heroic Doses and Golden, Afrobeat players such as Ebo Taylor, Victor Uwaifo and Fela Kuti and Sublime Frequencies bands such as Group Inerane.
 
Nordenfelt are Tom (vocals, guitar), Ali (guitar), Ed (bass) and Owen (drums, producer). Nordenfelt are influenced by Sunn 0))), NWA, and Squarepusher, yet they still end up sounding like Elliott Smith.
 
Forever Sound is cyclical music: melodies and rhythms appear as if in orbit, each a pendulum ticking to its own metre. A slow wave on a boundless sea. The deepest, coldest Chicago house meets the fizziest, most playful krautrock.
